“Host”

WHEN WE TALK OF HOST WE TALK OF ART, POLITICS, CULTURE, TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMY. WITH HOSTING WE TOUCH A PARADIGM: RELATIONALITY. THE PARADIGM OF BEING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE, OF IMPLODING FREEDOM, THE ONE OF UBIQUITOUS POSSIBILITIES. HOSTING AND BEING HOSTED IS THE ESSENCE OF A DIGITAL CONTEMPORANEITY.

IT IS WHAT POLITICS ARE EVOLVING AROUND. IT IS THE MIDDLE OF ACTIVE AND PASSIVE AND BY THAT THE CORE OF THE CULTURAL LOGIC OF A POSTDEMOCRATIC DATAISM, WHERE UNSCALED RELATIONALITY RAISES TO PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN RADICALISM: ALGORITHMIC REGULATION, CONTROL, EVEN CAPITALIZATION ON RELATION TO A TREMENDOUS EXTENT. WE ARE NOT LONGER GOVERNED BY AN APPARATUS. WE ARE GOVERNED BY AN ARTIFICIAL ENVIRONMENT THAT EXISTS OUT OF PROCESSES AND LOGISTICS. WE HAVE CHOSEN THE TERM “HOST” TO SIGNAL THE DIRECTION OF THIS ARTISTIC RESEARCH: WHAT IS THE POST-POSTMODERN CULTURAL PARADIGM OF ALIENATION AND HOW CAN WE RESENT THIS NEW FORM OF CAPITAL?

HOST IS A VIRTUAL PROJECT THAT WAS DEVELOPED AND WORKED ON IN OMS DURIG THE TIME OF THE PANDEMIC IN FORM OF A VIRTUAL “THINK TANK”. THE IDEA BEHIND THIS PROJECT WAS TO RE-THINK MEDIUM BASED COLLECTIVITY. WE CONSIDERED HOST AS BOTH MEDIUM AND THE OUTCOME OF A CRITICAL CURATORIAL PRACTICE.

THE PROJECT WILL CONTINUED AS A READING GROUP AS SOON AS JOSEPH VOGL’S “KAPITAL UND RESSENTIMENT: EINE KURZE THEORIE DER GEGENWART” WILL BE AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH.
